On May 13th, 2008, students from the Brooklyn College Antiwar Coalition organized their largest event ever on the Brooklyn College quadrangle. It was an amazing spectacle featuring live bands, life-size puppets, and guest speakers from Iraq Veterans Against War (I.V.A.W.) The two hour event was the result of hours of painstaking organizing and attention to detail by B.C.A.W. students, faculty, and allies.
The event was -- by all measures -- a huge success in bringing awareness to B.C.A.W. and initiating fiery impassionated debate on Brooklyn College itself. Friction.tv (an alternative media website) recorded much of the event and you can see some embedded video here:

A huge end of the semester event by B.CA.W. is a fitting tribute to a number of its members that will be graduating this semester. A personal, deep, and heart-felt thank-you to all those that made May 13th, a special day at Brooklyn College.
Moreover, B.C.A.W. would like to announce its full and complete support for I.V.A.W. member Matthis C. who recently announced his intention to refuse to redeploy in Iraq. We stand together with this Brooklyn College student who helped organize our efforts and has inspired us all with his courage. God speed Matthis, we're behind you! Stay tuned for bcantiwar.org as we detail ways to help Matthis's legal defense and other needs.
